Riding at Horsefeathers

What is Offered?

Horsefeathers offers hippotherapy and therapeutic riding, as well as private riding lessons for typically-abled individuals who want a gentle environment in which to learn. Each lesson is one half hour long and consists of working 1:1 with either a certified therapeutic riding instructor or a therapist, as appropriate. Requested fee for each half-hour session is $50.00 (cash or check only). Horsefeathers has OT’s (Occupational Therapists) and Speech Pathologists on staff, and all instructors are certified by PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship).

How Do I Get Started?

Call Horsefeathers to schedule an appointment for a screening. In this “first ride”, one of our therapists will meet with the parents/child, get a medical history, and make an assessment, which includes safely putting the child on a horse. The therapist will determine whether hippotherapy or therapeutic riding is more appropriate; if hippotherapy, a doctor’s prescription will be required in order to begin a program of treatment, and the therapist will then develop an individualized treatment plan. We will schedule a weekly (or more often, if desired) time slot for either the hippotherapy or therapeutic riding lessons.

Download and fill out the Rider Release Form before coming the first time as well.

Thanks and hope to see you soon!
