Horsing Around at Special Olympics 2013 - Horsefeathers Goes for Gold

Poplar Grove, IL, was popping with excitement when a group from Horsefeathers Therapeutic Riding, NFP in Lake Forest made their annual trip for the Illinois Special Olympics. Fifteen riders from Lake and Cook County traveled with their families to compete in Equestrian Events held on October 26 at BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding, in the Bergmann Centre stables.

Even more compelling than the interview explaining what therapeutic riding is, was the video of these very special riders. The image of the team required for each lesson - horse, leader, instructor, sidewalker, and rider - all working together toward a common goal, is powerful, and all of us at Horsefeathers are grateful to ABC 7 for telling our story.
